Employment

Thanks to technical improvements, the overall efficiency and performance of construction machinery is resulting in its widespread use on building sites. Those qualified as road roller or excavator operators will be able to count on much better employment opportunities in the construction industries.

Road roller - work and entitlements

Obtaining a qualification to carry out construction work, using a roller, can prove to be a very good choice when looking for a job in the construction sector, especially companies involved in road, rail or airport construction. A person who is familiar with current health and safety regulations will be able to carry out work that involves compacting soil and asphalt, creating a flat surface, using a road roller. The roller is most commonly used for asphalt roads, extensive car parks, squares, playing fields or runways.

In order to be a road roller operator, one must hold a Class III qualification - this is a document certifying that one is qualified to be an operator in the spectrum of working, road and construction tasks on machinery and equipment subject to Class III. By completing such a course, our client can seek employment in many companies providing construction services, as the demand for people familiar with machines and their control is not decreasing. The training carried out at OSO takes place at training facilities equipped with all the necessary equipment that meets quality and safety requirements.

Excavators - OSO course

Students undertaking the excavator course will be able to find employment after training in construction work that requires earthmoving activities such as separating rock material and transporting it to a truck or landfill. Models vary according to the material they handle (e.g. sand, gravel, coal), as well as the lifting capacity - for this reason, excavator qualifications have been divided into classes, these are:

  • Class III - working with single-head excavators up to 25 tonnes operating weight.
  • Class I - working with single-head excavators over 25 tonnes operating weight.

The order in which qualifications are obtained depends on the level of experience - the heavier the machine the greater the risk, and the greater the danger caused by an accident. Therefore, a candidate for an excavator operator will need to acquire a Class III rating first, followed by a Class I rating.
