(WAH) Working at Heights - Warsaw and entire Poland

Ośrodek Szkolenia Operatorów OSO invites you to the course Working at Heights (WAH).  

Thanks to the Work at Height training, organised by OSO, you will acquire the skills necessary to work as a technician handling wind turbines. The knowledge gained at our centre will enable you to safely perform tasks at considerable heights.  

The priority training objective is to raise safety standards in the wind turbine sector by providing participants with professional evacuation and rescue techniques and minimising the risks associated with working at considerable heights.

Purpose of the training

(WAH) Working at Heights 

Training participants

The aim of the training is to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills on the safe use of basic personal protective equipment (PPE) when working at height. The trainees are trained in the principles of belaying and evacuation in wind turbines, according to GWO standards. The training is designed to prepare the trainees for working at height in the wind industry, as well as teaching them how to deal with emergency situations related to the industry.  

After the training  (WAH) Working at Heights - Working at heights coursework: 

  • demonstrates knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with working at height specific to wind turbines; 
  • Is familiar with the current legislation relating to work at height. Has knowledge of current national legislation relating to work at height; 
  • is able to identify PPE (personal protective equipment), including knowledge of European and international standards for the marking of equipment such as: safety rope, helmet, harness, etc; 
  • uses work-at-height equipment correctly. Has the knowledge and skills to properly inspect before use, store and fit personal protective equipment; 
  • can demonstrate the use of appropriate personal protective equipment; 
  • has knowledge of evacuation and the use of evacuation equipment and can demonstrate the correct use of evacuation equipment; 
  • can effectively use rescue equipment and provide assistance in emergency situations around wind turbines; 

Programme

Training (WAH) Working At Hights - Work at height has been constructed on the basis of the requirements of the Office of Technical Inspection and current legislation. Our aim is to present you with the most important issues related to the safety of working at height in the environment of wind turbines. During the theoretical and practical training, participants will be familiarised with the law on working at height, basic personal protective equipment, taught how to deal with emergency situations, trained in rescue at height in a wind turbine environment and how to perform safe work at height.  

Training (WAH) Working At Hights forms part of the Basic Safety Training package. Among other things, the course includes: 

Work at height
  • Legal issues relating to safety at work; 
  • Safety systems including vertical belay systems; 
  • Systems and regulations for working at heights; 
  • Exercises in the use of safety and belay systems; 
  • Exercises to train in the correct working position; 
  • Simulation of emergency scenarios to prepare to act in life and health emergencies; 
  • Hanging shock; 
  • Emergency procedures; 
  • Principles of correct use of personal protective equipment and operation of rescue equipment; 
  • Life and health emergency training exercise

Entitlements

We are accredited by DNV and GWO 

Training Working at Heights is carried out in accordance with the current standard GWO Basic Safety Training. WAH is one of the key modules of the BST training that, according to the GWO standard, must be completed by every person performing the work at height on wind turbines.  

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate confirming their qualifications and skills in working safely at heights. The Certificate received is an official certification of the participant's completed training and confirms that they are prepared to perform their professional duties safely in environments where there is a risk of hazards associated with working at heights. 

The certificate is valid - 24 months. We recommend refresher training before completing this period. 

Requirements

The following requirements must be met in order to work at heights: 

  • at least 18 years of age  
  • at least a secondary education 
  • valid certificate from an occupational physician that there are no health conditions for working at a height of more than three metres 
  • social security or accident insurance paid 
  • having a WINDA ID number 
  • completed medical questionnaire 
  • work clothes, work footwear and gloves 
  • paid training fee
  • identity document. 

The upper weight limit for a person taking part in training at height is 135 kg 

Price

Price of training Working at Heights is determined on an individual basis. The fee depends on the number of participants attending. We offer attractive discounts for larger groups.

Teaching venue 

We provide training at various locations, including Warsaw and our regional branches throughout the country. We also offer training at the client's premises, including travel to the client.
