GWO certified wind training

The GWO Organisation was founded by leading companies that collectively hold almost 90% share of the global wind power market, such as Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE and Innogy. The aim of the GWO Organisation is to develop training standards that effectively identify potential hazards associated with working in this field. Uniform standards ensure a high level of safety both during the performance of professional duties and on construction sites. GWO certificates are recognised by employers all over the world as a guarantee of protection in the workplace.

Five-module GWO Basic Safety Training

The mandatory training that anyone working on wind turbines should undergo is the course GWO Basic Safety Training (BST). Depending on where you work, there are two options to choose from:

Training GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore consisting of 4 modules is a compulsory training for operators of wind turbines on land.

  • Working at Height
  • Fire Awareness
  • Manual Handling
  • First Aid

Training GWO Basic Safety Training Offshore consisting of The 5 modules are mandatory training for offshore wind turbine operators.

  • Working at Height
  • Fire Awareness
  • Manual Handling
  •  First Aid
  •  Sea Survival

Participation in these training courses ensures that you are fully prepared to carry out your professional duties. During the course, the participant acquires the skills to respond to emergency and unpredictable situations, including taking part in training in first aid, handling manual handling, dealing with possible fires in the turbine, maintaining safety rules when working at great heights and maritime survival skills.

GWO Sea Survival Training

To enrich your knowledge, we also recommend attending a training course Sea Survival. This module meets the latest standards GWO Basic Safety Training. The training is divided into practical and theoretical parts. It includes individual rescue techniques, learning to recognise different types of alarms and diagnosing hypothermia and the risk of secondary drowning. The practical part of the training takes place in a warm pool, where participants have the opportunity to simulate the transition from a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to a rescue ladder.

GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) course

Technical training GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) has been created for people who do not have a technical background or who want to systematise their existing knowledge in the context of the wind turbine environment.

The construction, installation and servicing of wind turbines requires technicians to have basic technical knowledge, which is provided by training GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT). Its aim is to introduce the specific environment found in a wind turbine and the technician's scope of work. The course explains the safety rules for electrical, mechanical and installation work, as well as the ability to operate hydraulic power tools.

As part of the comprehensive course GWO FULL BTT The participant receives 3 key modules: electrical, hydraulic and mechanical, as well as an installation package that includes two modules: mechanical and installation. Completion of this BTT training paves the way for job opportunities in the wind energy industry both onshore and offshore.

Important! Some companies may require additional certifications or internal competence standards. GWO BST certificates are valid for 2 years, after which it is recommended to complete the knowledge through the GWO BST Ref course.
