Machine Certification Provisions

Machine certification has become an obligation since Poland joined the European Union. According to the regulations, machines are defined as assemblies that have a drive other than the force of human or animal muscles. These assemblies must consist of interconnected components, some of which must be set in motion.

The following are subject to certification:

  • machinery
  • spare equipment for machines
  • safety parts
  • chains, belts and ropes
  • machine equipment
  • parts removable from machinery, including mechanical transmission
  • unfinished machines

The following are not subject to certification:

  • weapon
  • machines developed for the needs of the military and police
  • machines used for research purposes
  • machinery used for nuclear purposes
  • means of rail transport
  • means of water transport
  • means of air transport
  • mining hoisting equipment

  • Regulation of the Minister of Economy of 13. June 2011 amending the regulation on essential requirements for machines (Journal of Laws No. 124 item 701)
