Flange fitter course

Flange fitter

Flanged joints are not an easy item to handle. All it takes is a moment's inattention, a small mistake and an unpleasant situation endangering the environment can occur.

Our courses are designed to professionally prepare the future fitter for his or her job. Qualified staff will duly carry out the training of such a person.

After successfully passing the tests at the end of the class, the future fitter will receive a certificate giving permission to perform flange joint assembly.

Theoretical classes

The theory lectures will cover key information such as:

  • types of flange connections and how to install and remove them;
  • which seals to work with, as well as how to tell them apart and what their stresses are;
  • what to do to avoid the appearance of seals and how to prevent them,
  • what a bolt load is and what types of bolt load there are;
  • what safety measures to take at work and how, according to these standards, to prepare for their duties.

Practical classes

  • learning how to install flange connections, but also how to dismantle them,
  • ways of selecting appropriate protective measures in line with basic health and safety principles,
  • ways of distinguishing between gaskets, but also where and when to use them,
  • tests to show how tightly, and if at all, the flange connections have failed.

So we invite you to buy your courses with us!

What are flange connections?

This is nothing more than one of the unique mechanical connections used in the construction of industrial installations such as water mains and sewers.
They consist of several components, which include two flanges made of steel, gaskets and the element that connects them together. This connecting element may be a bolt, whose task, despite appearances, is very important. If it is not tightened correctly, it may not hold the parts of the joint together, which is why it is important to have the knowledge to prevent this from happening.

Flanged joints can be divided into one-piece, but also those that can be fitted loosely. The former can withstand a wide range of loads, as many have special reinforcement created during the pressing and casting process to strengthen them. They are somewhat more difficult to fit. The latter, on the other hand, are definitely easier to fix, but less robust.

Where are flanged connections used and what are the types?

We need the right pipes together with the fittings that are necessary for this type of connection. These include pipes:

  • PEHD,
  • PVC,
  • cast iron,
  • steel.

The flange connection, on the other hand, is divided into:

  • those used on steel pipelines and the equipment attached to them. They are very easy to recognise, as they are flat rings that are welded to a given location over its entire surface. They are referred to as welded flanges;
  • which have two components: a ring and a flange, which must be welded in the appropriate zone on the pipe. They are very simple to fit. They are mostly used when dealing with metals such as copper or aluminium. They are called loose flanges on a welded ring;
  • used when working with enamelled surfaces. These mount close together and are able to maintain the temperature of such material. They are called clamping collars;
  • easy to dismantle, able to withstand very high pressure. They are used on assemblies or equipment where welding is not desired. The contact is then with threaded flanges.

In addition, we offer

  • training courses for the operator and maintenance of UDT machines, including mobile platforms (aerial work platforms and scissor lifts), cranes, overhead cranes, telescopic handlers and storage stackers,
  • safety training
  • mobile and stationary service of UDT equipment,
  • modernisation, maintenance,
  • the possibility of hiring a replacement machine (scissor lift or forklift),
  • possibility to check the machine before purchase,
  • sale of new and used equipment.
