What are telescopic handlers?

Telescopic loaders are devices with a very wide spectrum of operation, thanks to which they are used not only on construction sites or on farms, but also in many other places. Currently, in some industries, it would be very difficult or even impossible to perform work without the use of telescopic loaders. This is due to the fact that these tools are perfectly adapted to many activities. The vast majority of companies decide to purchase telescopic loaders for their own use, which facilitates the daily performance of transport and construction activities. Proper operation of chargers results from the use of appropriate and in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and maintenance of the device in a good technical condition.

What are telescopic handlers?

Currently, it is not difficult to get lost in the many specialized names that describe a given type of equipment. Therefore, before making the right choice, you should get to know the types and specifications of devices. Specialized and sometimes complicated nomenclature is to distinguish the equipment from others, based on the type of drive, maximum lifting capacity or lifting height. It is well known that the term telehandler is a common name. According to the definition of the Office of Technical Inspection, a telehandler is a forklift truck with a mechanical lifting drive and a variable reach. A forklift truck with a mechanical lifting drive and a variable reach is a trolley with a fixed platform, forks or other types of devices intended for free handling of loads, adapted to lifting palletized and non-palletized loads, to a height that allows for storage and retrieval of loads as well as placing in nests. Telescopic loaders appeared on the market in the 1970s and their use has been constantly changing since then. Over time, the use of chargers, their design and parameters are significantly improved and changed. The currently used telescopic loaders have been designed in such a way as to consume as little fuel as possible, in addition, they have a remote control function and air conditioning. The improved devices are also characterized by high maneuverability, as well as a number of modern functions enabling work on various planes.

Division of telescopic loaders

Front loaders (rigid telescopic) - are characterized by the fact that they do not have a movable cabin, which means that the cabin does not rotate in relation to the chassis. They are mainly used for transporting large loads that lift to significant heights. An important issue may be the fact that this type of loaders requires a lot of space around them - due to the fact that the front loader comes to the loading or the place of delivery of goods only at the front. Front telescopic loaders have a boom attached to the right side. Depending on the type of model, they are equipped with one pair of supports or none at all. If a given model does not have supports, then the device rests only on wheels.

Rotary telehandlers - are equipped with an additional rotating head, which allows you to change the position of the cabin. The cabin can rotate 360 degrees, which makes it much easier to handle the goods. The main advantage of devices of this type is the significant lifting height. Rotary telescopic loaders have front and rear supports, which significantly affects safe and stable operation. Supports are essential when working with heavy loads because heavy loads weigh on the front, rear, or either side of the machine. Rotary telehandlers significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of work thanks to their advantages, which include, above all, ease of use and the fact that they take up less space thanks to the swivel cabin. These types of devices are much higher than rigid chargers. They were constructed in such a way that their movement on difficult terrain was not a problem for them, and transporting heavy objects was not a challenge. The rotating cabin allows you to make corrections when loading the load. Chargers offer many functions, which makes them practical and multi-purpose. Therefore, their popularity is constantly growing.

The use of telescopic loaders

Telescopic loaders are used for:

  • Agriculture and horticulture - due to the powerful development of Polish agriculture and horticulture, telescopic loaders are used more and more often, especially in plantations or in orchards. Thanks to telescopic loaders, work becomes easier and more enjoyable.
  • Construction industry - popular forklift loaders are also used on construction sites, making it easier to perform many activities. They are most often used for lifting heavy construction materials, e.g. pallets with cement bags. In addition, they are perfect for unloading goods, e.g. bricks, paving stones or hollow bricks. They also make it possible to transport materials from one place to another.
  • Transport and Logistics - this is one of those industries where functioning without telescopic loaders is practically impossible. Telescopic loaders play an important role in forwarding companies and are used primarily for loading and unloading trucks. They are also used for the internal flow of goods.
  • Large-area stores - telescopic loaders are most often found in large-area stores, for example in DIY stores and wholesalers, as well as in large stores and supermarkets. Thanks to them, individual pallets with goods are also transported. In this industry, in addition to the use of ordinary forklifts, battery-powered stacker forklifts also work well. Their task is to transport goods on a low floor to any distance. Out of concern for the safety of both employees and customers in large-format stores, battery carts are ideal, due to the fact that they do not emit exhaust fumes, are quiet and compact.
  • Factories, warehouses and production plants - along with the modernization of logistics, the demand for the modernization of technology has also increased. In closed rooms, the use of battery-powered forklifts will be perfect. Therefore, battery trucks are very popular in all kinds of factories, warehouses or large production plants. The big advantage of these trolleys is that they can be easily moved even on small surfaces. Warehouses and production plants use, among others, front forklifts, lift trucks, pallet trucks and reach trucks. They play an important role in the process of transporting the assortment and storing goods at various heights.

Course offer

The course for telescopic loaders was created for people who would like to obtain the necessary qualifications to work as an operator of this type of equipment, as well as for people who want to enrich their knowledge. The aim of the course is to provide students with practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of operating devices in the first category of WJO. The aim of the course is also appropriate preparation by our specialized staff for the exam, which ends our course. During the course you will gain knowledge of the types of devices and their construction, technical supervision, activities of the device operator before, during and after the end of the task, the basics of loading studies, additional equipment of the device, construction and operation of gas cylinders and health and safety at the workplace. To obtain the appropriate qualifications, you must complete the course and then pass the exam before the Committee of the Office of Technical Inspection. After passing the exam, the student receives an appropriate certificate and qualifications to work as a telescopic loader operator. The rights are honored throughout Poland and EU countries. To join the course, you must be at least 18 years old, have a minimum basic education and have no health contraindications to work as a telescopic loader operator.
